Rochester, New York
Rochester estimated population is over 1,037,800 residents according to a 2000 census. The city was originally purchased by Colonel Nathaniel Rochester on November 8, 1803, and in 1811, they started surveying and laying out streets. By 1838, Rochester was the largest flour producing city in the country marking its name of the ‘flour city’ (now known as the flower city). Rochester later became the center of the men’s garment industry. Furthermore, it also became home to Cunningham automobile company.
There are many historical and cultural things to see while you are in Rochester. There Is the Susan B. Anthony House which highlights the life of Anthony as women’s rights activist. You can also visit the George Eastman House: International Museum of Photography and Film, Memorial Art Gallery, Strasenburgh Planetarium, Seneca Park Zoo, Artisan Works and the Strong Museum of Play. Furthermore, you can visit the Geva Theater, Comix Café, and the BugJar for live entertainment and music.
